Democratic Chair files ethics complaint against Hawkins
Councilman using publicly-funded webpage to promote Senate campaign

FRANKFORT - Kentucky Democratic Party Chair Jennifer Moore today filed an ethics complaint with the Louisville Metro Ethics Commission against Republican Doug Hawkins, who is running for State Senate against Democratic incumbent Perry Clark in the 37th District.

Hawkins, a Louisville Metro Council Member from District 25, posts a link to his State Senate campaign website on his taxpayer-funded Metro Council webpage, a clear violation of the Louisville Metro Ethics Ordinance.

"This is a blatant abuse of power. Doug Hawkins is simply using his position as a Metro Council Member to support his State Senate campaign and that is in violation of the ethics code," Moore said. "I am confident that, after reviewing our complaint, the Commission will agree."

After serving as House Representative for the 37th District for 12 years, Clark won the 37th District Senate seat in a 2006 Special Election.
