KDP Chair Statement On Matt Bevin's New Financial Disclosure

FRANKFORT, KY -- A new report from CN2 reveals that Matt Bevin has filed an amended financial disclosure statement with the State Ethics Commission -- just days before the Ethics Commission met. The updated filing follows an Associated Press report -- in June -- that Bevin failed to disclose his controversial companies on state documents, a "possible ethics violation."
In response to this latest CN2 report, today Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Patrick Hughes issued the following statement:
"What we know today is that Matt Bevin lied about his finances on required state ethics documents -- just like Bevin lies about everything else. In light of Bevin's long record of dishonesty, his failure to pay his taxes and his financial hypocrisy, the timing of his updated filing is wildly suspicious. And this development only underscores that Bevin is continuing to break Kentucky's long and bipartisan tradition by hiding his tax returns. It's all just more proof why Republicans called Bevin an 'East Coast Con Man,' and that Kentuckians cannot trust him to serve as our governor."
Bevin's record of financial dishonesty and hypocrisy is well documented. The Courier-Journal revealed that Bevin enriched himself through gambling and Common Core companies while opposing gambling and Common Core during his campaign. And this week, the Bluegrass Poll found that nearly 70 percent of Kentuckians disagree with Bevin's refusal to release his tax returns.
