At a nominating convention in Versailles on Monday, 56th District Democrats chose James L. Kay II to represent the party in a June 25th special election for State Representative. Kay, a Versailles attorney and Chairman of the Woodford County Democratic Executive Committee, was the unanimous choice to replace former Representative Carl Rollins.

While McConnell has been pleading for sympathy, members of Kentucky National Guard, Fort Knox employees and many educators are seeing their pay slashed by as much as 20 percent because he was not interested in working out a deal to stop the sequester's reckless budget cuts. He voted against the Violence Against Women Act and tried to remove protections for victims of domestic violence.

The Kentucky Democratic Party and the Louisville – Jefferson County Democratic Party have announced that Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden will be the keynote speaker at this year’s annual Wendell Ford Dinner on Thursday, June 6 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Louisville. General Biden is the son of Vice President Joe Biden.
