and Delegate Selection
Every four years, the Kentucky Democratic Party conducts a statewide reorganization in order to grow and develop strong precinct, county and state leadership. From the Precinct to the State Convention, ALL registered Democrats are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Statement of Candidacy to be a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention

This form must be filed with the KDP no later than May 15th at 5:00 pm.
April 5
Precinct Conventions
Location: Your local polling place, 10:00 am
Democrats meet to elect Precinct Leaders (Man, Woman and Youth). They are responsible for electing the County Executive Committee and delegates to the State Convention, as well as staying in contact with local democrats and recruiting Democratic nominees for office when there are vacancies.
April 12
County/Legislative District Conventions
Location: TBD by local County Democratic Party, 10:00 am
Newly-elected Precinct Leaders gather to elect a County Executive Committee. These Committees are responsible for promoting the Democratic Party in the county. If you are a Precinct Leader, it is important that you attend your County Convention. Note: Jefferson and Fayette Counties hold Legislative District Conventions to determine their County Executive Committee.
May 15
Statement of Candidacy for National Convention due at KDP Headquarters by 5:00pm.
May 20
Presidential Primary DON’T FORGET TO VOTE!!
May 31
County/Legislative District Caucuses for National Convention
Delegates to Congressional District Caucuses are chosen to attend the State
Convention. These Delegates will choose delegates to the National Convention.
June 7
Kentucky Democratic Party State Convention
Lexington Convention Center, Lexington, KY.
10:00 am
Delegates elected at the April 12 County and Legislative Conventions gather by Congressional District to elect the members of the State Central Executive Committee.
Delegates elected at the May 31 Caucuses gather by Congressional District to select Delegates to the Democratic National Convention and to the Presidential Electoral College.
2:00 pm
Delegates elected at the April 12 County and Legislative District Conventions elect the remaining members of the State Central Executive Committee. The newly elected State Central Executive Committee elects the remaining delegates to the Democratic National Convention.
