Kim Humphrey is Our Nominee for House District 7
Noting her experience in job creation and commitment to her community, the Democratic Nominating Committee for the 7th House District has selected Kim Humphrey of Union County as the Democratic nominee for the special election on December 10, 2013.
“Kim is a terrific candidate. She is a self-made person who recognizes the importance of hard work. She knows the importance of reaching across party lines to get things done for the people of Daviess, Henderson and Union counties,” said Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Dan Logsdon. “If elected, she will fight to bring quality jobs to her community and use her experience in the coal and banking industries to improve the lives of all Kentuckians.”
Humphrey is a resident of Union County, and a high-ranking community affairs director for Alliance Coal, the third largest coal producer in the country. She is also the former director of community development for the Union County Economic Development Commission, and a former executive of a regional bank. She is married to Steven Humphrey and has two children and five grandchildren.
“I am grateful for this opportunity to represent the people of the Seventh district,” Humphrey said. “Like Senator Wendell Ford, I will work every day to improve the lives of our people, working with Governor Steve Beshear to recruit well-paying jobs, protect our coal industry and support education. I reject the D.C. style politics we see dominating our news and I commit myself to work across party lines and keep partisan political games out of Frankfort.”
